ISLIP, N.Y. -- Netsmart Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of enterprise-wide software for health and human service providers through its wholly owned subsidiary, Creative Socio-Medics (CSM), today announced that Hennepin County's Children, Family, and Adult Services Department has awarded CSM a $4.1 million contract for the full Avatar suite of human services products, of which $1.6 million is for software licenses.
Jerry Koop, CEO of CSM commented, "The Hennepin contract is a significant contract not only in terms of the dollar value, but that the award was a direct result of our successes in Minnesota with other contracts: the State of Minnesota's Department of Human Services eight-hospital system and Ramsey County Mental Health."
James L. Conway, Netsmart's CEO, said that this contract, which will be performed over a period of 18 months, will represent a significant source of revenue for Netsmart. He noted that for the nine months ended September 30, 2002, Netsmart reported net income of $447,000, or $.12 per share, on revenue of $16.3 million.
Hennepin County itself was incorporated in 1852 and forms part of one of the nation's major metropolitan areas with Minneapolis as its largest city. The county is the most populous of Minnesota's 87 counties with about 22 percent of the state's population and has the highest per capita income in the state. The Children, Family and Adult Services Department provides a full range of human and social services to the residents of Hennepin County. Its mission is to ensure the safety and stability for children and adults who are at risk or have been abused/neglected; for vulnerable seniors; and for individuals with disabilities. The Department purchased Avatar Practice Management, Clinician Workstation, Managed Services Organization, and the Methadone Clinic Management systems to meet its information systems requirements.
Susan Nesbitt, information technology manager for Hennepin County Children, Family, and Adult Services Department, said: "The Avatar suite provides Hennepin County with the option of completely replacing our aging mainframe system with an integrated package. Additionally, we were impressed by CSM's presence in the state and county government arena. We look forward to refining our best practices through collaboration with other customers in the CSM State User Association."
